Hi,
I have the exact same problem Laura mentioned.
I solved this problem by manually adding the script to the OSMTools toolbox but when I don´t know how to configure the parameters of the script! Some help would be great!

Thanks

I tried to download the script and follow the instructions, but when adding the toolbox in arggis, it is empty without any script or toolset inside. What i am doing wrong?

thanks,

Back again.

I got it to work. Had to edit step 5 in Python to use a try/except so it wouldn't crash out on the error. I just put each command in its own try/except to find out where the error was. The line below is the one that had problems.

Thanks.

try:
    gp.addspatialindex(wayfc,0.05,0.5,5.0)
except:
    gp.AddMessage('Could not complete gp.addspatialindex command 2')

Hi,

Was soooo excited to find this as I look forward to using OSM data in the future. I ran it and had these errors (see below) at the end. Any way I can make this work?

Thanks,
Tim

Step 5/5
Building Indexes
Error in script OSMSimpleLoader.
Error in executing: cmd.exe /C X:\Data\OSM\PZCAHQ~8\OSMTools\scripts\O6N5EG~I.PY "X:\Data\OSM\9_12_07\planet-070912.osm.bz2" "X:\Data\OSM\9_12_07" "OpenStreetMapPlanet.gdb" "4" "X:\Data\OSM\working area"
The spatial index grid size is invalid. [osm_ways]
The operation was attempted on an empty geometry.

Failed to execute (OSMSimpleLoader_1).
End Time: Thu Sep 20 15:59:57 2007 (Elapsed Time: 24 hours 58 minutes 19 seconds)

Interesting stuff you've obviously written. You are referring to a documented XML structure. But following the link it says that the information is outdated (as of june 21). Is your python app still valid? BTW: A converter from OSM to Shape written in Java would probably be also worthwhile to consider?
